"Roses grow in Jacksonville!"

The Jacksonville Rose Society is a non-profit organization, established in 1954. Located in Jacksonville, Florida, we are an affiliate of The American Rose Society

As stated in our charter, the purpose of our organization is to encourage the scientific study of plants and their culture, specifically roses, both old and modern, and to encourage the planting of roses for civic beautification.

Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month except for January and July at the Garden Club of Jacksonville, 1005 Riverside Avenue.  Our next regular meeting at the Garden Club will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012.

February Meeting Program

Come learrn about pruning at our February meeting.  Wayne Myers will tell us about his battles providing spring haircuts to his 200 rose children.  The monsters like 'rosa bracteata,' the 'Cherokee Rose,' and 'Reve d'Or' require special equipment (chain saw, ladders, protective gear, & ropes) and may take a full day for a single plant.  In contrast, a whole bed of Minis or even Hybrid Teas may be finished in an afternoon.
